At Sciencebook we are all about forward-thinking. So when we discovered that social media could be used in science education we were keen as beans to give it a go. Perhaps it's a bit of a strange concept - but stay with us.
Yes - students spend so much time on social media and mobile devices - often both serve as a distraction. And, in the past, mobile initiatives haven't been successful, but if designed correctly, the learning experiences offered can be meaningful.
Indeed, research has found that content delivered by social media on mobile devices can be a valuable learning tool. One of the most advantageous qualities of social media is that students already know how to use it and they spend a fair bit of time engaging with it!
